The Model Village



The Model Village in Bourton on the Water is the only grade II listed model village in the country.

Built of Cotswold stone it is a one-ninth scale model of the actual village, complete with model village within the model village!

The River Windrush flows under Bourton's famous bridges providing a beautiful backdrop to the miniature beeches, cherries and chestnut trees. You'll also hear music in the tiny model church and can wander the lanes peering into all the different buildings. 

Horse Riding



Beginner tourist ride:
A 45 minute beginners circular route suitable for all levels of rider over 7 years old including absolute beginners. The best way to see the beautiful Slaughter villages is from the back of one of our experienced and good-natured horses! The 45 minute ride can include a short trot if riders are happy to do so. All of our rides aim to have a refreshing splash in the River Eye.

Get outside and have an adventure with family and friends. Our instructors are highly experienced at running outdoor activities for all ages and abilities. When you arrive you will be asked to choose 2 activities from these: Soft archery (age 4+) Den building (age 4+) Fire lighting (age 4+) Survival shelters (age 6+) Axe throwing (age 8+) Rifle shooting (age 10+) Wood chopping (age 12+) Your experience will finish around a campfire toasting marshmallows and sipping hot chocolate.



Treemendously Wild



Treemendously Wild is set up for families and children in a private woodland with a fully qualified forest school leader, providing a safe environment for children of all abilities and backgrounds to learn and develop through child-led play and to greater physical and mental wellbeing.

Cotswold wildlife park & Gardens



The Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens exhibits over 260 different species of animals. The park is set in 160 acres of landscaped parkland and gardens 2 miles south of Burford, 10 minutes away from Spring Cottage. 

Birdland



Discover an amazing world of birds and their Jurassic ancestors on your day out in the Cotswolds.

Birdland is set in nine acres of gardens and woodland, creating a picturesque canopy for the winding River Windrush. Meet over 500 birds from magical owls, large cassowary and rare species such as the Waldrapp Ibis. Spot flamingos, pelicans, cranes and waterfowl that live in our riverside habitats with many more inhabiting over 50 aviaries.



Playground and tEnnis in Shipton



From tots to teen this wonderful play area behind the village hall in Shipton will surely entertain the whole family.

Cotswold farm park



Sitting in the heart of the Cotswolds, Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park has a long-standing reputation for a fun-filled day out. Visitors of all ages can interact closely with the animals and learn about farming, past and present.

As the home of rare breed conservation, visitors can meet over 50 flocks and herds of farm animals, including Gloucestershire Old Spot Pigs and Highland cattle. The Animal Barn, Adventure Barn and Discovery Barn can be enjoyed all year round, as they are under cover and protected from the elements.

With an adventure playground, farm safari, maze and jumping pillows, there’s lots of entertainment for children of all ages. The on-site restaurant, serving seasonal food and Adam’s own beer, is a hit with the adults.


There’s plenty to offer outside the Farm Park too. Experience the stunning diversity of animals and plants by completing our two mile wildlife walk, or extend your stay by booking a pitch on our campsite.

The Cotswold Water Park is an area of over 40 square miles and 180 lakes, with many different leisure providers.

This stunning wetlands landscape hosts tens of thousands of breeding and watering birds and is an ideal destination for watching wildlife all year round.

The range of activities on offer in this one area is quite amazing, with something for everyone – the young, the not so young, and everyone in between.

How about heading off on your bike to explore the secluded lakeside paths? Or try your hand at a new sport such as waterskiing, kayaking, sailing or paddle boarding?
In the cooler months, this is a great place to go wildlife watching, with otters, water voles, and thousands of wintering water birds
